It’s coming up on tax time again. Make sure your payroll software is up to date. You will also have to adjust the basic exemptions. Sage 50 and QuickBooks will notify you there is an update and prompt to install it. Download the Sage 300 Canadian payroll update at support.na.sage.com.

Software updates do not change the federal and provincial exemptions.
Both the Federal and Provincial exemptions increased for 2019. If they wish to claim an additional exemption an employee can fill out a TD1. There is a Federal form and one for each province. Download the forms at canada.ca.

Don’t forget to update the WCB rates. If your company does job costing your payroll software will need the 2019 rates to properly cost labour to the jobs.
