Sage has included several enhancements with the 2022 payroll update. It has been a while since Sage has improved payroll. The new features are hopefully a sign that the payroll team will continue to add features. This years new features include:

• Employee comments tab with follow-up date
• Option to include comments in employee report
• Default taxes for new employees
• Save settings as default option on calculate payroll window
• Easy access to exceptions report and payroll register
• Greatly expanded number of Record of Employments that can be processed at one time
• More control T4A reporting boxes

The payroll team has included an update notice with information on new tax rates, claim amounts and workers compensation rates and maximums. They have included the current and previous amounts to make it easier to update employee records. You will find the information on the help menu under product documentation for Sage 300 2022.

One feature I would like to see added is online paystubs. Some payroll programs let you upload pay stubs and T4s to the cloud where employees can view and print them on demand. You can email paystubs to employees using add-on software but it’s not seamless. If you forget to email the stubs before approving the payroll you are out of luck. Once the cheques are posted the stubs are deleted.
